With two games left to play on their league schedule, the Pierce College Men’s Soccer team have secured a third place finish in the South Region, and have locked a spot in the NWAACC playoffs. This marks the teams third trip to the playoffs in the past four seasons. The Raiders have compiled a 5-6 league record thus far (7-9 overall), and can finish over .500 for the first time since 2009.
The Raiders suffered tough road losses in their last two matches, losing 2-1 to 2nd place Chemeketa CC, on October 20, and then dropping another 2-1 decision to division leading Clark, on a Penguin goal in the 89th minute (October 24). The two well-played games proves that the Raiders are playoff ready, and set to make a lot of noise in the NWAACC playoffs.
Freshman midfielder Matt Solis continues to lead the Raiders’ offensive attack, with a team-high 10 goals, while fellow freshman Jay Williams has 6 goals. The Raiders play their final two league matches at home, starting this Saturday (10/27), when they host the Lakers of Southwest Oregon CC, starting at 11:30 a.m., and then closing out the 2012 regular season on November 3, when they host Chemeketa CC. Start time at 2:00 p.m.
