Raider Playoff Hopes Still Alive

The Raiders picked up their third win in as many games defeating the Chokers of Grays Harbor College 83-67 Wednesday night. This win in Western Region action keeps the Raiders on pace in the playoff hunt.

The Raiders were led by Carli Elwin (SO. Bonney Lake, WA) with 30-points, eight steals and six rebounds. Mackenzie Lancaster (FR. Puyallup, WA) was also in double-digits with 21-points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals. Lancaster shot 53-percent from the field going 8-for-15 and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

The Raiders defense continues to wreak havoc on teams with their full court pressure. The Raiders constant pressure forced 32 Choker turnovers equating to 35 points off of turnovers. Elwin and Lancaster had eight and seven steals respectively. Elwin remains number one on the charts for steals and is number two in scoring.

Alyssa Simonson (FR. Covington, WA) is currently leading the West Region in league play for total assists and is averaging five assists a game. Simonson tallied seven assists against Grays Harbor and grabbed nine boards. In limited action Taianna Fakakatoufifita (FR. Tacoma, WA) chipped in seven-points and grabbed five boards in 16 minutes of play.

The Raiders host cross town rival Tacoma this Saturday February 2, 2013. Tip-off slated for 5:00 pm then will travel to Highline Community College Wednesday February 6, 2013 in another West Region thriller.
