Open Education Resources Training Getting an Update

State Board of Community and Tech Colleges (SBCTC) OER training is taking time out to update and improve their course.

There have been significant changes with the service providers and tools introduced in the training, so they’ve decided to skip the next November training in order to update the content and keep it current. To keep up with the high demand of this training, SBCTC will offer 2 one-hour webinars that cover the basics of OER as during the restructuring process. The new OER training will resume in January

  • November 25 at 10:00 -11:00 AM

FREE OER Training Starting May 2

SBCTC eLearning again invites faculty to participate in a fully online training course about OER that begins on Monday, May 2, 2016.

This two week course is fully online and asynchronous, providing participants with information and experience in adopting and integrating open educational resources (OER).  In addition to discussing the concept of OER and open licenses, participants will practice locating and sharing open educational resources.

As this is a fully facilitated training that will produce an official certificate to the participants upon successful completion, participants are expected to spend 10 hours to complete the course. This training is FREE for anyone in the WA CTC system.

Spring Adjunct Faculty Day – “Equity and Diversity: Moving Beyond the Data”

Join the Center for Engagement and Learning and your fellow Pierce colleagues for a day of teaching and learning at the Spring Adjunct Faculty Day – “Equity and Diversity: Moving Beyond the Data.”

This event will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pierce College Puyallup.

  • The Effects of Poverty and Class on the Student Experience
  • Open Education
  • Creative Approaches to the Syllabus

  • Responsive Teaching

Coffee and a catered lunch will be provided.  All adjunct faculty members will be compensated $100 for participation in the entire day of training and for successful completion of a reflection form regarding the event.  This required reflection form will be made available to you electronically following the training.

SBCTC eLearning is again offering their popular “How to Use Open Educational Resources” training.  This two week fully online course begins on October 9, 2014 and provides participants with information and experience in adopting and integrating open educational resources (OER) into their classrooms.  In addition, participants will have the opportunity to practice locating and sharing open educational resources.

This is a fully facilitated training and successful completion will result in an official certificate.  Participants are expected to spend 10 hours to complete the course.  This training is completely FREE to all WA state community college and technical instructors.
