QM Workshop Scheduled for Friday Sept. 19, 2014

Pierce College is hosting a face-to-face session of “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” on Friday, September 19 at Pierce College Puyallup, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

This is QM’s flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online courses. Quality Matters is both a tool and a process for ensuring online course quality. QM emphasizes faculty-centered continuous improvement.

Facilitator: Ryan Morris, QM Certified Facilitator
Location: Pierce College Puyallup, College Center Building – CTR 252
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30 minute lunch). Catered lunch included with registration.
Cost: FREE to all Pierce College employees

Online APPQMR Options:

If the in-person workshops don’t fit your schedule, consider taking the workshop online! Quality Matters offers the training online several times a month.

About the online “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” Workshop:

  • 2 weeks, facilitated by a certified QM trainer.
  • Includes discussion forums, quizzes, and exploratory assignments; participants can expect to spend about 8-10 hours/week in the workshop.
  • Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive a Certificate of Completion from QM.
  • Satisfies the requirement for Pierce College instructors who teach online or hybrid courses.*

*Per the Pierce College Negotiated Agreement, all faculty who teach fully online and hybrid courses must complete this training by the end of the 2014-2015 academic year. Both in-person and online options are offered a variety of times throughout the academic year. Check the CEAL calendar for upcoming Applying the QM Rubric Workshop training dates. If you teach online and you are not sure you have completed this requirement, please contact the Pierce College eLearning department to verify your training status.

Quality Matters Workshops in May and June

QM_ProgramThere are two FREE upcoming opportunities to take the “Applying the QM Rubric” Workshop.

  • Online Workshop May 1-May 20.  This session is 100% online and 2+ weeks long (expect to spend 8-10 hours per week to successfully complete).
  • In-Person Workshop June 23 & June 24 1-4:30 PM at Pierce College Puyallup.  This is a 2-part workshop, totaling of 7 hours.

Join us on November 11 for a QM Workshop!

Welcome to the first post from our new blog! And fortunately we have some news for faculty who are interested in taking the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric training. As you may know, this particular training is part of the Negotiated Agreement for those teaching online and hybrid courses, and we are on track to provide both in-person and online options for the academic year.

First up is the in-person training workshop scheduled for Monday November 11, 2013.  More details:
