Summer break!
I am on summer break until the first week of August. At that time, hopefully (always depending on people signing up!) I’ll be teaching chem 163 on Tues/Thurs evenings – so if you or someone you know needs this class: sign up when it comes onto the schedule! Possibly I will also be teaching a chem 131 class at a different time. That is tentative.
I’ll post the chem 162 polymer project final PDF here when I get it all put together from the pieces; if anyone is interested in what was produced through that effort this last class. Grades are in for chem 162 class (as of Thursday May 17th).
Any chem 162 people looking here: it turns out that there were several missing pieces from the polarimeter lab. 1. a Live Readout button needs to be turned of, that is a software thing for the current version; 2. a timer should be run, and the rotating handle should be turned several times around, but after waiting 3 seconds from start time, and then stop a few seconds before the end time for 15 seconds; and 3. some data manipulation involving subtracting out the long-term “infinity” value needs to be done to get a reasonably linear set of 1st order data points (the natural log values, of course). So I think some notations on the procedure will definitely be in order for the next time I get a chance to pull out this lab, involving software, hardware, and data manipulation – that pretty much covers the options, doesn’t it?
