Nosara Animal Care (NAC) in Nosara, Costa Rica, is seeking a Director/Coordinator of Animal Care to manage the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned, abused, and neglected cats and dogs in the greater Nosara area. Additionally, the Director responds to animal care queries from the public; recruits and supervises foster homes, maintains appropriate records and documentation of animal care activities; purchases needed supplies/services for animal care; maintains the NAC Facebook page; advertises spay/neuter clinics, supervises the recovery team at spay/neuter clinics, and ensures that all needed supplies are available; coordinates all volunteers for animal care. Nosara Animal Care is a registered non­profit organization supported by public donations and small grants, and it is managed by a Board of Directors. The Animal Care Director reports to the President of NAC Board of Directors and works with the President and other Board members to advance NAC’s mission. The Animal Care Director is a 6­month, renewable position that includes a monthly stipend ($500) and board at the NAC House (all utilities & rent are paid by NAC). The Director must provide their own transportation. Preference will be given to applicants who speak some Spanish. Nosara is a rural, beach community in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Our currently growing practice has openings for 3 fun and motivated Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our Small Animal Practice.

We currently have 3 full time positions available.  Day, evening, weekday and weekend shifts are available.  There is flexibility to rotate schedules.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Technician will have the opportunity to work in surgery, dentistry, emergency and general appointments at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in a small animal practice is required, 1-3 years.  •Must have a two-year degree by an accredited veterinary technician program, and have passed the VTNE, or have satisfied the prerequisites to challenge the VTNE (i.e. be qualified under the “Grandfather Clause”) and have passed the test, preferred.  •Veterinary Technician License required.

Ability to:

  • Communicate with clients in regards to patient history, updates and discharge.  • Observe and report animal appearance and condition.  • Demonstrate experience in patient care, imaging, dentistry, preventative medicine, anesthetic induction & monitoring and surgery assisting, IV placement, & accurate medication calculation and administration.  • Lift large dogs (up to fifty pounds)  • Properly restrain each type of animal presented for treatment.  • Follow written and verbal directions.  • Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling. Participate in on-call schedule rotation.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
