Are you an experienced veterinary assistant and/or an LVT? Would you like to live and work in the beautiful Olympic Peninsula? Looking for assistants and/or LVTs with experience in outpatient appointments: animal restraint; vaccination, medication and fluid administration and demonstration; treatment plan creation/presentation; venipuncture and catheter placement; restraint, positioning and capturing for digital radiographs as well as experience in inpatient procedures: dentistry and surgical preparation; anesthetic monitoring and patient recovery; providing support for practice and doctors; including call-backs on lab work, prescription refills, ongoing care requirements. Computer proficiency required, experience with AVImark preferred. Work requires lifting and carrying animals up to 40 lbs alone, for distances up to 40 feet (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs); walking and/or standing for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent and/or crouched position. The veterinary technician is the primary support to doctors and patients. In addition, the technician must able to organize/delegate the activities on the downstairs treatment room and communicate well with other staff members.

You are available several days a week including rotations through weekends and holiday coverage.   • Monitoring patients under anesthesia, assisting in surgery

  • Other duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, attending staff meetings just to name a few.

The usual warnings include the requirement to be able to lift up to 40 pounds, work on your feet for 8 to 10 hours a day, and have reliable transportation. No smoking or illegal drugs.

The successful candidate has a cheerful outlook with strong verbal communication skills. Written communication is also important as documenting patient treatment and client communication is part of exemplary medical care. Familiarity with veterinary record software is a plus.
