Dancing to Embrace Our Past and Enhance Our Future

Pierce College will host Dancing to Embrace Our Past and Enhance Our Future on Wednesday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Performance Lounge at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, 9401 Farwest Dr. S.W., Lakewood. The event is free and open to the public. For more information call (253) 964-6283.

The event will feature the Napili Kai Foundation Polynesian Performers from Maui, Hawaii, and the Native Pride Drum and Dance Ensemble from Tacoma.

Sponsors include: the Pierce College Foundation, Student Programs, Multi-Cultural Student Services, Trio SSS, 1st Nations Student Association, Cafe Club, and Tennis Club.

Pierce College Career Fair

Pierce College will host its annual Career Fair on Thursday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cascade Building at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, 9401 Farwest Dr. S.W., Lakewood. All events are free and open to the public. For more information call Michelle Bornfleth at (253) 964-7344.

Workshops will be held on the fourth floor in Dining Bay C including a Transferable Skills Workshop at 11 a.m., a Networking Workshop at noon and a session on how to apply for a job in higher education at 1 p.m.

A Networking Breakfast and Employer Panel also will be held at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast is also free and open to the public. Space is limited. Please reserve a spot for the event by calling (253) 964-6298.

Pierce College Film Club Presents: The Independence Film Festival

The Pierce College Film Club presents the Independence Film Festival on Wed. March 17 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and on Thursday, March 18 at 1 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge in the Cascade Building at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, 9401 Farwest Drive S.W., Lakewood. The event is free and open to the public.

This event is the first student-run film festival at Pierce College. The festival will include a judged competition and exhibitions of works of other filmmakers and winners of previous festivals.

Family-friendly films will be shown first. Films with mature content will be shown after an announcement.

Pierce College Music Department Faculty Recital

The Pierce College Music Department is hosting a faculty recital on Friday, March 12 at noon in the Performance Lounge in the Cascade building at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, 9401 Farwest Drive S.W., Lakewood. The event is free and open to the public.

The lunch-hour music recital will feature Eastman graduate Amy Grinsteiner and Dr. Jere Knudtsen. Selections include the works of Rossini, Brahms, Francaix, and Korsakov.

Pierce College is currently conducting an assessment of the district’s Web site to improve its usefulness to students throughout their experience at Pierce.
