Joann Wiszmann selected as the vice president for Administrative Services at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.

Joann Wiszmann’s selection as the vice president for administrative services at Pierce College District was announced today by Pierce College District Chancellor Michele L. Johnson, Ph.D., following a regional search.

Ms. Wiszmann is currently the Deputy Director of the Higher Education Coordinating Board. She has been in this role since January 2005. Prior to 2005, she worked there as the Associate Director and then the Director Administrative Services. Joann was also with the Washington State Auditor’s Office (1990-2000), where she focused on higher education. She supervised the audits of 14 community and technical colleges and the University of Washington during this time.

“What draws me to Pierce College is their reputation for quality learning and strong leadership,” Wiszmann said. “Pierce College is widely known for providing innovative and award winning programs. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the dedicated staff and students, and look forward to working with the Pierce College community.”

Johnson cited Wiszmann’s senior level experience in finance, budgeting, administrative services and policy development. “She’s a proven leader in higher education policy who understands the complexity of our opportunities and challenges. Her experiences and insights will serve us well in meeting the needs of our students and community. We look forward to her being a member of our team.”

Wiszmann holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Seattle University, one in Business Administration and one in Humanities. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. Joann is also a graduate of the Cascade Center for Public Policy’s Executive Management Program.

Ms. Wiszmann is scheduled to start on January 8, 2007.
