One of the most beloved and widely read novels of the last decade, Water for Elephants (2007) told the story of Jacob and his experiences with a seemingly untrainable circus elephant named Rosie. Soon to be a major film starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, Water for Elephants was a New York Times bestseller that has been printed in 44 languages worldwide.
Gruen’s fourth novel, Ape House, is the story of a family of bonobo apes stolen from a language laboratory that later resurface on a television reality show. The thrilling, funny novel analyzes human-ape interaction and the very essence of human nature.
The Pierce Presents Artists and Speakers Series is presented by the Pierce College Puyallup Office of Student Life.
