Coach Mendy celebrates his 250th win
A career spanning 250 wins is no small feat in college basketball. But, Pierce College Raiders Head Coach Bill Mendelson is not your ordinary coach.
To celebrate this milestone achievement, Mendelson was honored at a special ceremony Jan. 29 before tipoff of the men’s basketball game against Clark College. Nearly two dozen former players were in attendance to honor Mendelson’s 250 career wins.
The 250th win was achieved Jan. 26 against Highline Community College.
In his 16 seasons as a head coach in the Northwest Athletic Association for Community Colleges, Mendelson spent his first eight years at South Puget Sound Community College (six years with the women’s program and two with the men). Now in his eighth season with the Raiders, Mendelson has captured the two highest finishes at the NWAACC tournament (second place in 2005 and third place in 2007) in Raider history.
