Author Jamie Ford to speak at Pierce Puyallup on April 13
Pierce College Puyallup will host Jamie Ford, author of “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet,” the featured book in this year’s Pierce County Reads program, at noon April 13 in the Arts and Allied Health building. The lecture is free and students and community members are encouraged to attend. Ford will be available to sign books afterwards.
“Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet,” a 2010 New York Times bestseller, sets a childhood romance during the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The novel includes several local area landmarks, including the Puyallup fairgrounds.
Through the Pierce County Reads program, there are more than 30 free events, including Ford’s visit to Pierce on April 13, to help readers explore Asian culture and history along with the book. The events are listed below.
