SLAM receptions celebrate student creativity
The 2012 release of SLAM, the annual student literary arts magazine, will be marked by receptions celebrating the work of student writers, photographers, artists, and performance artists.
At Fort Steilacoom, the SLAM release reception will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the theatre (Cascade 320).
At Pierce Puyallup, the reception will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Connection Cafe (second level College Center).
Both venues will have free copies of SLAM available and contributors will be invited to read their work. In addition, winners of SLAM’s “best of” awards in poetry, prose, drama, art and cover design will be announced, and theatre students will share a video of their interpretations of SLAM works. Free food and drink will be provided.
This is the 13th year of the SLAM publication.

Ten-Minute Play Festival spotlights Pierce writers, actors
Pierce College Theatre presents the Ten-Minute Play Festival for the spring production. Shows are May 16-19 in Studio 320 on the third level of the Cascade building at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom. Cost is $2 for Pierce students and $3 for everyone else. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the theater line at (253) 964-6710.
